Michael Jackson’s Legacy

New Video!

Whatever. I remember seeing the interview/Docu of him in 2001 and I was totally empathetic to him and his life. I understood why he was the way he was and, i liked him even though the docu was biased and subjective. All of the things people ridiculed him for, I saw differently because they misunderstood him. I always said he was asexual, he never grew up, much like a lot of strange people out there. Fearful people. Sensitive people. To me, that’s all that MJ was. Not a monster.

Back to my point, I’ve always felt these things and it bothers me when I get pegged as a hypocrite for liking someone after they die.

After MJ died, I listened to Billy Jean and my boyfriend ridiculed me thinking I was doing it because it was “the thing to do” after someone dies, and though I wasn’t a die hard fan, I loved that song. I had favorited the music video a month before, and I showed it to my boyfriend just so that I could prove him wrong. I grew up loving to watch my VHS of Thriller.. I think he was one of my first crushes and that was back in the early 90’s.. MJ was a big part of our culture, though I never outwardly represented him or say write letters to him to prove it.. But not everyone who showed theyre appreciation of his death were doing it because it’s a fad. A lot of people loved him. The day after he died, I went to the mall and a lot of the stores were playing MJ remixes. It made me happy. People celebrating his life. It’s not as obvious that people appreciated him because what made more money were trashy tv shows and tabloids.. But no respectable person believes that shit. He was generally innocent and never fixed his internal problems from his childhood, which only hurt himself and unfortunatley people would rather condemn him for his bad choices than take the effort to understand.

I usually agree with you Cody but I this.. Like when you say “If you told someone you liked MJ when he was alive everyone would make fun of you” Since when has what the majority of people did concern you? Or any confident person.
